Pros and cons of Laced hair extensions and replacement system

Have you ever seen our catalogue?

In this article I am going to explain what a Laced hair replacement system is, and what its pros and cons are.

The Laced is a cap, its base consists of a small net to which single strands of hair are hand knotted one by one, through a painstaking handmade job.

There are different kinds of knots such as half, single, double, and multiple

The smallest knots are the most invisible. The biggest knots are the most resistant – but they are also visible.

After the hair replacement system is completed, the knots are usually whitened, particularly in the frontal area, where the extensions need to be totally imperceptible.

The whitening of the knot is probably the most difficult procedure, made to ensure that the Laced extensions look completely natural.

The knot should become translucent, therefore invisible, while the whitening should not affect the hair length nor the resistance of the knot itself.

If the job is well done, once the replacement system is attached to the skin the hair should look like it stems directly from the skin. One shouldn’t be able to see the knot, nor a yellowish shade on the base (which is on the skin) or in the length of the hair.

The whitening is a procedure that needs to be done manually, by experienced and handy technicians. Each comlacepany has its own methods that differentiate it from its competitors. We believe that the techniques we use guarantee good invisibility, remarkable resistance (while other Italian companies import Laced replacement systems that are rather fragile and have broken hair) and outstanding hair quality.

The Laced extensions include different types of lace. The Swiss is a thin one, completely invisible but also fragile. The French is a stronger lace. The Korean – or 001 – is a stronger and more rigid lace that is typically used for replacement systems that need to last for longer time.

These Laced systems are made in Europe, where we believe there is the best quality of products. However, the Chinese Factories (including those that sell to several Italian factories) are increasingly buying materials from a Chinese company that produces in North Korea for a fraction of the price, and using POLIMERY that represents a health hazard. Remember to always ask your salesperson where the materials for your extensions come from. It is often better to spend a little more money for a healthy product.

The pros of the Laced systems are several:

  1. If well anchored, it is completely invisible with any kind of light and from any distance.
  2. If well anchored, it’s totally impalpable, therefore there’s no risk of it being detected even when someone touches your head.
  3. It is totally transpired, it feels as if you were not wearing it.
  4. It is very light and you cannot feel anything while wearing it.

The Laced hair replacement system is therefore a terrific one. Perhaps the most purchased and the one people prefer on the market of hair replacement system. However, it also has some flaws.

The main flaws include the following:

  1. The weekly maintenance is complex as the extensions are more difficult to clean. Follow the mirror technique – which is explained in another article that you can find in this Blog.
  2. The area tends to deteriorate with time, especially in the Swiss systems.
  3. The system needs to be properly cleaned and maintained, otherwise the hair tends to go through the base.
  4. With time the knots may unfold and lots of hair may fall off.
